VANCOUVER, British Columbia Heavily favored Teide dominated the $51,591 S.W. Randall Plate for older horses at Hastings on Monday. Under a confident ride by Chad Hoverson, Teide broke sharply and after dueling with and disposing of Krazy Koffee early, he repelled a bid by Spaghetti Mouse at the quarter pole. Teide was three-lengths clear at the top of the stretch and then widened his margin to 4 3/4 lengths while being ridden out. Spaghetti Mouse held on to finish second. Texas Wildcatter made a late move to get up for third. "He s very versatile and if they wanted to give us the lead I was happy to take it," said Hoverson. Trained by Dino Condilenios, Teide paid $3.70. Final time for the 1 1/8 miles was 1:50.76 over a track rated good. * In the co-feature, Ganbei may have earned his way into the Grade 3, $275,000 B.C. Derby on Sept. 27 with a shocking upset in the $53,337 Richmond Derby Trial. With apprentice jockey Geovanni Franco in the irons, Ganbei took the lead in deep stretch and then held off Gather de Justice to win by a neck. Odd-son favorite It Happened Again got hung out four-wide early and after forcing the pace for six-furlongs he tired to finish seventh. Conditioned by Mel Snow, Ganbei paid $60.30. Final time for the 1 1/16 miles was 1:46.08. * The three other stakes on the card were won by favorites. Tierra Del Feugo ($2.30) gave the chalk players a scare as she barely held off Miss Kay Dee Raine to win the $55,603 Hong Kong Jockey Club for 3-year-old fillies. * Holy Nova ($3.10) cruised to a four-length win over her stablemate Lady Raj in the $55,692 Strawberry Morn Stakes. * Despite getting off to a poor start, Bank Emblem ($5.30) rallied from last to win the $30,689 PNE Presidents Speed over And All That Jazz.
