Tee Em Eye pulls upset in Bold Ego Handicap

Tee Em Eye closed down the center of the track for a half-length win over She’s My Gem in the $65,000 Bold Ego Handicap on Saturday at Sunland Park. It was another neck back to Into Mystic, who finished a head in front of fourth-place finisher Cashcheckorcharge.
The Bold Ego was for fillies and mares at 5 1/2 furlongs.
Tee Em Eye ($32.20) was content to settle off contested fractions of 22.08 seconds for the opening quarter and 44.65 for the half-mile. In the stretch she moved past a line of battling rivals, and went on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:05.80.
Enrique Gomez was aboard for owner and trainer Jose Luna Silva.
Tee Em Eye is a 7-year-old mare by the Grand Slam stallion Cyclotron. She came into the Bold Ego off a win in the $30,000 Phoenix on Dec. 21 at Turf Paradise. Tee Em Eye earned $39,000 on Saturday to improve her record to 11 wins from 36 starts for career earnings of $208,607.
