Ted Noffey has first official work back

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Ted Noffey, the undefeated 2-year-old champion of 2025, worked three furlongs in 38.33 seconds Monday morning over Saratoga’s main track. It was his first official work since Jan. 23 at Palm Meadows, a training center in Florida. Shortly thereafter, he was sidelined due to bone bruising.
According to trainer Todd Pletcher, Ted Noffey had two workouts at Ian Brennan’s farm in Ocala, Fla., before being sent to him at Saratoga on Aug. 2.
“He was moving good, it’s great to have him back, looks good, he’s filled out,” Pletcher said. “We’re really happy with him.”
Pletcher expects Ted Noffey to come to hand rather quickly, though he has not honed in on any particular spot for his return. Churchill Downs hosts a pair of stakes restricted to 3-year-olds on Sept. 19, the Harrods Creek at seven furlongs and the Bourbon Flight at 1 1/16 miles. Both races are worth $300,000.
Ted Noffey won his maiden and the Grade 1 Hopeful at Saratoga, the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland, and capped his championship campaign with a victory in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile at Del Mar.
