SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – It was the final weekend of the 2025 Saratoga meet when Ted Noffey became a Grade 1 winner, taking the Hopeful Stakes by 8 1/2 lengths. It was the first of three Grade 1 wins for Ted Noffey, who would go on to be crowned 2-year-old champion.
On the final weekend of the 2026 Saratoga meet, Ted Noffey had his fifth workout of his comeback, going five furlongs Saturday over the main track in 1:00.50 with a solid gallop-out of 1:13.88, according to Daily Racing Form’s Mike Welsch.
It was Ted Noffey’s fifth workout since he came to Saratoga at the beginning of August, his first going five furlongs. He worked in company with the maiden Presidential Power. Ted Noffey was sidelined several months due to bone bruising.
“Solid work, he got something out of it. Still got some work to do but it looks like we’re making good progress,” trainer Todd Pletcher said.
There is no timetable for Ted Noffey’s return. He is nominated to stakes on the third weekend of September at Parx and Churchill Downs, but Pletcher said he doesn’t plan to run in either one.
“Ideally, I’d like to get into a race that would put him in a position to maybe make the Cigar Mile,” said Pletcher, referring to the Grade 2 stakes on Dec. 5 at Belmont Park.
