Teammate scratched from Comely

David Grening|Apr 15, 2006

Teammate, the 6-5 morning-line favorite, was scratched out of Saturday's Grade 2, $150,000 Comely Stakes at Aqueduct due to a bruised right front foot, trainer Allen Jerkens said.

"She was just a little sore this morning, a little bit off," Jerkens said. "We took pictures anyway just to be sure that's all it is."

The results of those X-rays were not available.

Jerkens said if Teammate does not have more than a bruised foot, she will most likely train up to the Grade 1 Acorn on June 10. Teammate, owned by Joe Allen, was coming off a six-length victory in the Grade 2 Bonnie Miss at Gulfstream in her last start.

The scratch of Teammate left a field of six for the Comely, a one-mile race in which Miraculous Miss will likely be the prohibitive choice.
