Team Maker strong in allowance feature

HALLANDALE BEACH, Fla. – A well-matched field of seven Florida-bred fillies and mares will clash in the highlight of a modest Friday program at Gulfstream, where first post is 1 p.m. Eastern.
Trainer Mike Maker clearly holds the strongest hand in the ninth of 10 races, a $44,000 first-level allowance scheduled for a mile on turf. Maker will send out Ghostly Beauty and Lookinlikeaqueen, 4-year-old fillies who were second and fourth in the same kind of race three Fridays ago.

Ghostly Beauty will break from post 6 and be ridden by Irad Ortiz Jr., who has opened a sizable lead atop the local jockey standings.
The feature is part of the 20-cent Rainbow 6, which spans races 5-10. A pool guarantee of at least $1 million is projected for Friday, assuming no single winning tickets emptied the jackpot Wednesday or Thursday.
