Teachintherelease notches fourth consecutive win with West Virginia Breeders’ Classic

Coady Teachintherelease wins the West Virginia Breeders’ Classic at Charles Town on Saturday night.

Teachintherelease drew out by 14 1/4 lengths while winning his fourth consecutive race in the $300,000 West Virginia Breeders’ Classic on Saturday night at Charles Town.

Muad’dib, a two-time winner of the race, finished second.

The Classic was the richest of 10 restricted, divisional stakes on the annual West Virginia Breeders’ Classic card.

Teachintherelease ($2.40) made all the pace in the 1 1/8-mile Classic that was run around three turns. He set fractions of 24.33 for the opening quarter, 48.18 for the half-mile, 1:14.17 for six furlongs, before going on to cover the distance on a fast track in 1:52.67.

Carlos Lopez was aboard the winner for trainer Stephen Murdock.

Teachintherelease is a son of Windsor Castle who races for Robert L. Cole Jr.

Cavada

Petty Perfect ($16.80) rallied into a contested pace for a 5 1/4-length win over The Sky is Falling in the $125,000 Cavada.

The seven-furlong race was for fillies and mares and run around two turns. Petty Perfect covered the distance in 1:27.22.

J.D. Acosta was aboard the daughter of Candygram for trainer Kristy Petty. Petty Perfect races for KP Racing Stables.

Acosta had a second stakes win on the card when he guided Jubaslilballerina ($5.40) to a 1 1/2-length win in the $75,000 Roger Ramey. She led throughout to win the 1 1/8-mile race in 1:57.45. Ronald Sigler trains the daughter of Juba for Casey’s Legacy.

Juvenile results

Sigler had another winner on the card with Tricks R for Juba, who darted home by three lengths over Gurney Halleck in the $75,000 Vincent Moscarelli.

The 6 1/2-furlong race was for 2-year-olds. It was run around two turns and the winner covered the distance in 1:19.57.

Denis Araujo rode Tricks R for Juba ($6.80) for Casey’s Legacy LLC. The winner is by Juba.

In the $75,000 Triple Crown Nutrition for 2-year-old fillies, Edy’s Flame was a three-length winner over 1-2 favorite C’mon Eileen. The winner covered 6 1/2 furlongs in 1:21.85.

Jeiron Barbosa was aboard for trainer Anthony Farrior.

Edy’s Flame ($24.80) is by Flameaway and races for Richard Burnsworth.

Double for Runco, Bocachica

The high percentage trainer-jockey team of Jeff Runco and Arnaldo Bocachica won both 3-year-old stakes.

Spotafreeone picked up his fifth consecutive win when he held for a neck victory over Pascaline in the $75,000 Russell Road. The winner covered seven furlongs in 1:26.47.

Spotafreeone is a son of Warrior’s Reward who races for John M. Link.

Zip Start ($2.20) was a three-quarter-length winner over Skie’s Music in the $75,000 West Virginia Lottery for 3-year-old fillies. The winner covered seven furlongs in 1:27.05.

The daughter of Upstart races for Coleswood Farm.

*Time to Rock ($11.60) was a length winner over Honeyquist in the $75,000 Dash for Cash. Marshall Mendez was aboard the winner, who covered 4 1/2 furlongs in 52.10 seconds. Time to Rock is by Uncle Lino and races for Jill Daniel. He is trained by Stacey Viands.

*Mendez had another winner on the card, in the $75,000 Onion Juice with No Change ($3.40). The winner, who is by Fiber Sonde, covered seven furlongs in 1:26.75. Cynthia McKee trains No Change for Brew Ridge Farm.

*Maggie’s Girl ($3.80) led throughout for a 2 3/4-length win over Candy Tricks in the $75,000 1/ST Breeders. The winner covered 4 1/2 furlongs in 52.67 seconds. Larry Reynolds was aboard. Maggie’s Girl, who is by Uncle Lino, is owned by Grams Racing Stable and trained by Timothy Grams.
