Tatweej seeks third straight victory

Tatweej, a $2.5 million auction purchase, will be chasing after his third consecutive win in Friday’s featured eighth race at Gulfstream Park.
Tatweej goes in a second-level allowance that carries an optional claiming price of $62,500. A field of six is set to start in the one-turn mile race, including the seasoned I’m a G Six and the promising Brewmeister.

Tatweej is a son of Tapit and the Grade 1-winning mare Tiz Miz Sue, and he brought $2.5 million as a yearling at Keeneland in 2017. He’s won 2 of 3 starts, with all of his races at this one-mile distance at Gulfstream.
Tatweej, who is 4, launched his career in July with a third-place finish in a maiden special weight. He proceeded to win at that level one start later, with a Beyer Speed Figure of 85. Tatweej trumped himself last out when he won a first-level allowance with a Beyer of 86 – the best last-race number in the field Friday.
Edgard Zayas, who has been aboard for both of Tatweej’s wins, has the mount from the rail on Tatweej, a front-runner trained by Todd Pletcher.
