ARCADIA, Calif. – Taris, third in the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 31, is a candidate for the $300,000 Go For Wand Handicap at Aqueduct on Nov. 27. Trainer Simon Callaghan said on Wednesday that Taris will have a workout at Santa Anita on Friday to determine whether she is sent east for the Grade 3 Go For Wand, which is run at a mile for fillies and mares. A successful start in the Go For Wand might lead to starts around two turns in 2016 for Taris, who has won 5 of 9 starts and earned $507,700 by racing primarily in sprints. A 4-year-old filly, Taris races for Michael Tabor, Susan Magnier, and Derrick Smith. “I think we’ll go for this race and we’ll see how we judge her future,” Callaghan said. In the BC Filly and Mare Sprint, Taris was beaten two lengths by Wavell Avenue after racing in traffic in early stretch.
