Tapiture breezes for Oaklawn Handicap

HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Multiple Grade 2 winner Tapiture is confirmed for the Grade 2, $600,000 Oaklawn Handicap on Saturday, said trainer Steve Asmussen. The horse breezed an easy half-mile in 50 seconds on Monday. Tapiture breezed off the fence and in hand, with clockers getting his final quarter in 24.20 seconds. Asmussen said Ricardo Santana Jr. has the mount on Tapiture.
Oaklawn racing officials are also looking for the Oaklawn Handicap to draw Golden Lad, Midnight Hawk, Race Day, and Sammy Mandeville. For Greater Glory is a go for the race, said trainer Steve Hobby, while Irish You Well might start, said trainer Wayne Catalano.
The draw for the Oaklawn Handicap, a 1 1/8-mile race, is Wednesday. Tapiture and Golden Lad are expected to be the highweights at 117 pounds.
