Perennial leading sire Tapit continues his emergence as a sire of sires, as, for the second year in a row, one of his sons was represented by an Eclipse Award champion. Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner British Idiom, who earned her divisional title, is by the Tapit horse Flashback, who currently stands at Diamond B Farm in Pennsylvania after beginning his stud career in Kentucky. She followed 2018 Kentucky Oaks and Breeders’ Cup Distaff winner and Eclipse champion Monomoy Girl. That champion is by Tapizar, who stands alongside sire Tapit at Gainesway Farm in Kentucky. In addition to his two young sires of champions, Tapit had four sons among the top 15 freshman sires by earnings last season in Constitution, Tapiture, Tonalist, and Race Day. Constitution, who finished second to American Pharoah on the earnings list, sired four graded stakes winners, led by Grade 1 winner Tiz the Law. Tapit will have five sons in the 2020 freshman sire class, led by dazzling Metropolitan Handicap winner Frosted. Meanwhile, Tapit, who owns the single-season earnings record for a North American sire, continues his own prowess with his progeny on the track. He led all North American stallions by graded stakes winners last year, and is already off to a flying start in that category for 2020. He picked up his fourth individual graded stakes winner less than a month into the season, as Pink Sands won the Grade 2 Inside Information Stakes on Saturday at Gulfstream Park.
