Tap It to Win works toward probable Breeders' Futurity start

ELMONT, N.Y. – Trainer Mark Casse sent out his promising 2-year-old Tap It to Win to work four furlongs in 49 seconds over the main track here on Monday. A son of Tapit, Tap It to Win completed his final three furlongs in 35.50, just cruising through the wire before galloping out five-eighths in 1:02.20.
Tap It to Win rallied along the deep rail to a very impressive 3 1/2-length maiden win going six furlongs at Saratoga on Aug. 24, for which he received an 86 Beyer Speed Figure. Casse is looking at the Grade 1 Breeders’ Futurity at Keeneland on Oct. 5 as the most likely option for Tap It to Win’s next start.
“It’s not 100 percent, but I’m fairly certain the Breeders’ Futurity is what we’ll target next,” said Casse. “I’d like to get a two-turn race into him rather than to stay here for the Champagne. This morning was his first work since he won and we were just letting him stretch his legs a little bit.
“We’re really excited about him, Everybody talked about not being able to win on the inside that day and he stayed down in there and ran fast on a day when a lot of good horses ran. When you look at figures, sometimes they are skewed because there is not a lot to compare them with. But he posted a big number on a day when that was not the case.”
