Tanner leaving Gulfstream post

Mike Tanner, Gulfstream Park's director of marketing and media, will leave that position at the end of the month to accept the post of director of racing operations at Harrah's Chester Downs, a harness track and slots casino under construction in Chester, Pa. Chester Downs is scheduled to open in June 2006.

Tanner, 39, began at Gulfstream Park as assistant publicity director in 1993. He was named assistant to the track's president, Scott Savin, in 2003 before taking on the multifaceted marketing and media position of in 2004.

Tanner's departure has led to the promotion of Mike Mullaney as Gulfstream's new director of media and to an expanded role for Susy Ampuero in her position as assistant director of marketing.
