Tango Run tries to stay perfect in Tah Dah Stakes

Tango Run has already established herself as a standout in her short, unbeaten career. She will look to put an exclamation point on her summer in Sunday’s $75,000 Tah Dah Stakes for Ohio-bred 2-year-old fillies at Belterra Park.
Tango Run was a 6 1/2-length debut winner for trainer William Cowans on June 26 at Thistledown despite breaking a step slowly. She then handled a muddy Thistledown track in posting a 2 3/4-length victory in the Miss Ohio Stakes on July 22. The filly is another juvenile standout this season for the young Kentucky stallion Run Away and Hide, whose season is led by the graded stakes winners Ten City and Run Away.

Red Stokes III, aboard Tango Run for both outings, remains in the irons Sunday. The pair drew the rail in a field of six that includes some familiar faces, with three from the Miss Ohio back for another try.
Trainer Tim Hamm brings back Miss Ohio runner-up Count de Loot and third-place finisher Summit Point. Count de Loot, despite having the stakes placing to her credit, is still a maiden after three starts. Summit Point finished second in Tango Run’s debut, then came back to win her own maiden by 4 3/4 lengths. She set a pressured pace in the Miss Ohio before flattening out late to be third.
Missap steps up to stakes company off a 4 1/4-length debut win at Belterra for trainer Kellyn Gorder. The filly earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 49, tying Tango Run’s Miss Ohio figure for the best mark in this field. The Thistledown maiden winner Emmy’s Candy and the maiden Circus Rings, sixth in the Miss Ohio, complete the field.
