Tampa Bay Downs: Risky Rachel scores in Minaret Stakes

OLDSMAR, Fla. – The 7-year-old Risky Rachel returned from a long layoff in sharp form Saturday, rallying past the pacesetting favorite, Cor Cor, for a 3 1/4-length tally in the $50,000 Minaret Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs.
Under a strong ride from Daniel Centeno, Risky Rachel chased Cor Cor through an opening half-mile in 44.93 seconds, then ranged up outside that one into the furlong grounds to challenge. She shook clear a furlong out, then pulled away late, covering the six furlongs in a very solid 1:10.93.
Cor Cor was easily second-best, 4 3/4 lengths to the good of Ambusher, who bested Sunny Forest by three parts of a length for the show.
Risky Rachel retuned $5.60 as the second choice, and the Juan Coronel trainee picked up $30,000 for her eighth career victory.
