Takeover Target tops Brown’s Saranac trio

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – Trainer Chad Brown will send out the trio of Takeover Target, Money Multiplier, and Winter Springs in a field of eight entered for Saturday’s Grade 3, $300,000 Saranac Stakes for 3-year-olds going 1 1/8 miles on turf.
Takeover Target, who drew post 2, is coming off a win in the Grade 2 National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame Stakes on Aug. 7, his third win from five career starts. Winter Springs, in his U.S. debut, finished sixth, beaten 4 1/4 lengths, in the Hall of Fame.
“It was his first time in this country, and he was far back – moderate pace,” Brown said of Winter Springs, who drew post 4. “He did close well, I thought. I expect a forward move in start No. 2.”
Money Multiplier, who drew the rail, finished second in the Grade 3 Kent at Delaware on July 18, his turf debut.
“Money Multiplier ran very well for his first start on turf,” Brown said. “I thought he learned a lot in that race, and he showed an affinity for the surface.”
Others entered in the Saranac are Sky Hero, Go Around, Vision Perfect, World Approval, and Nonna’s Boy.
