Take the One O One rides rail to Real Good Deal win

DEL MAR, Calif. – Take the One O One likes to drive in the fast lane. He won for the second straight time, third time in his last five starts, and fourth time in nine lifetime races when capturing the $150,345 Real Good Deal Stakes at Del Mar while rolling along an inside path that was the place to be Friday night.
Take the One O One ($4.20), the favorite, was just off a hot pace while inside, made a bold move under Joe Talamo on the far turn to seize the lead, then continued on to win the seven-furlong race for 3-year-old California-breds by a half-length over Daddysprize.
Shaymin was 1 1/4 lengths farther back in third, then came, in order, Fashionably Fast, Smiling Angelo, Isee It in Hiseyes, and Violent Ridge, who reared up before the start and then was no factor after breaking with his rivals.
Psycho Dar was scratched.
Take the One O One was timed in 1:23.40 for seven furlongs on the fast main track.
What has made Take the One O One so formidable in his adaptability. He won sprinting on dirt on Friday, but in his prior start won a two-turn grass race, and his trainer, Brian Koriner, said “he probably won’t sprint for awhile” after this race.
“He’s a really nice horse. We’ve been flopping back and forth with him,” said Koriner, who said he and owner Samantha Siegel have “been playing it safe” by running in state-bred company and now may try him in the Del Mar Derby on the meet’s closing weekend.
Take the One O One, by Acclamation, has three wins and two thirds in five starts this year. He was off from September to March because of a shin injury exiting the Grade 1 FrontRunner.
Take the One O One earned $85,500 on Friday and now has lifetime earnings of more than $340,000.
