Take note of Flying Notes

AUBURN, Wash. - Flying Notes, one of the most impressive maiden winners at the current Emerald Downs meeting, will make his long-awaited return in Sunday's $40,000 optional claiming feature for 2-year-olds. The race has attracted a field of seven who will vie over six furlongs for a purse of $15,000.

Flying Notes, a French Deputy colt from the barn of Bud Klokstad, debuted in a 4 1/2-furlong maiden special weight race May 28 and drew off to easily defeat a strong field in 51.40, which remains the fastest time recorded during the meeting at that distance. The Kentucky-bred was not eligible for any of the races on the local stakes schedule, so Klokstad put him on the shelf until recently, when he began to prepare for a fall campaign in California.
