Take Charge Brandi eyes Starlet Stakes

Take Charge Brandi, the winner of the BC Juvenile Fillies at Santa Anita on Nov. 1, will be a heavy favorite Dec. 13 in the $350,000 Starlet Stakes.

The Grade 1 Starlet is run over 1 1/16 miles and previously was run at Hollywood Park, which closed at the end of 2013.

Trained by D. Wayne Lukas, Take Charge Brandi will be part of a field expected to include three fillies trained by Jerry Hollendorfer – Achiever’s Legacy, the winner of the Desi Arnaz Stakes at Del Mar on Nov. 16; Light the City, who won the Anoakia Stakes at Santa Anita in October and was the third-place finisher in the Arnaz; and Majestic Presence, who was third to Take Charge Brandi in the Delta Downs Princess Stakes in Louisiana on Nov. 22.

Other expected runners are Maybellene, who was second in the Arnaz Stakes, and Conquest Eclipse, Feathered, and Danette, were fourth, fifth, and seventh, respectively, in the BC Juvenile Fillies.

Conquest Eclipse worked five furlongs in 58.80 seconds Friday at Santa Anita.
