Take Charge Brandi doing well after procedure

Take Charge Brandi
Coady Photography Take Charge Brandi is one of 154 early nominees to the 141st Kentucky Oaks on May 1.

Champion Take Charge Brandi on Thursday had a pin placed in her right knee to accelerate the healing process from a non-displaced bone chip, trainer D. Wayne Lukas said Friday. The trainer said the procedure was successful and there was no cartilage damage.

Take Charge Brandi is in Kentucky at Rood and Riddle equine hospital and will likely return to Oaklawn on Saturday or Sunday, said Lukas. The trainer said she would have 30 days of stall rest, then 30 days of hand walking before resuming training May 15.
