Taghleeb may try longer distance in Sycamore

Taghleeb closed with a flourish to win the $100,000 Remington Park Green last Sunday, and now more distance looks to be in his future. Trainer Mike Maker said the horse, who has returned home to Kentucky, could run next at Keeneland.
Taghleeb won over 1 1/8 miles in the Remington Green, covering the distance on firm turf in a brisk 1:46.97. He earned a Beyer Speed Figure of 95.
“The further, the better for him,” said Maker, who trains the horse for Michael Hui. “We might try the Sycamore at Keeneland. It’s still up in the air.”
The Grade 3, $100,000 Sycamore, at 1 1/2 miles on turf, is Oct. 20.
Taghleeb was one of two stakes winners Maker had from two starters Sunday at Remington. He also accounted for the $50,000 Bob Barry Memorial with Gianna’s Dream. She was moving into the Oklahoma-bred ranks off a win at Saratoga and rolled by four lengths under Joel Rosario, who also rode Taghleeb.
Gianna’s Dream, who defeated older rivals, has since shipped to Kentucky.
“We’ll bring her back for the Oklahoma Classics,” said Maker.
He said Gianna’s Dream is targeting the $130,000 Oklahoma Classics Distaff Turf on Oct. 21 at Remington. The filly races for Jordan Wycoff.
