T Rex Express scores repeat victory in My Sister Pearl

T Rex Express went wire to wire over a muddy and sealed track at Charles Town on Saturday night to top a Jeff Runco-trained trifecta in the $51,050 My Sister Pearl, a 1 1/8-mile race for West Virginia-bred fillies and mares.
She won by 1 3/4 lengths and was followed across the line by 9-1 Frozen Tundra, who bested her 10-1 stablemate Starlight Flight by a neck for second.
T Rex Express paid $3.40 and was timed in 1:55.57 in the three-turn race. Her task was made easier when expected odds-on favorite Moonlit Song was scratched.
The victory was the second in a row by T Rex Express, who won the West Virginia Breeders Classic Distaff by 2 1/2 lengths Oct. 13. She scored her first stakes victory in the My Sister Pearl a year ago.
A 5-year-old, she is now 12 for 28 with earnings of $324,000.
T Rex Express was rated on an open lead early in the My Sister Pearl. She increased her advantage early on the backstretch under jockey Gerald Almodovar, who kept her under a drive to the finish.
• Trainer Anthony Farrior and jockey Arnaldo Bocachica won three consecutive races Saturday night. They took the second with Ghostly Affair ($3.20), the third with Megstone ($12), and race 4 with Lill Mave ($2.20).
Bocachica leads the Charles Town rider standings by 38 wins. Farrior is based at Laurel Park and only sends a few horses to Charles Town to race. He is now 3 for 7 at the meet.
• Apprentice rider Brittany Scampton scored her first victory in race 5.
