Synergy pulls away in Sir Winston Churchill

VANCOUVER, British Columbia – Synergy remained undefeated as a sophomore with a convincing win in the $50,000 Sir Winston Churchill on Thursday at Hastings. He paid $8.60 for his three-length victory over Porter Gent in the 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds.
Ridden by Efrain Hernandez, Synergy broke from the outside post in the seven-horse field and was immediately taken in hand while settling off an honest pace set by Porter Gent. He started to make his presence known approaching the quarter pole, was in full flight going around the stretch turn, and after collaring Porter Gent at the top of the stretch, drew off to win decisively.
