Symphony Sid wins Carleton Burke

ARCADIA, Calif. - Symphony Sid stole the $100,000 at the Oak Tree at Santa Anita meeting.

Winning his first graded stakes, Symphony Sid took the lead from the start, led by as many as 10 lengths and kept going in the final half-mile, winning by 5 1-2 lengths over Artiste Royal, the 4-5 favorite.

Symphony Sid ($12.80) ran 1 1-2 miles on turf in 2:24.18 in the Grade 3 Burke.

Ridden by Michael Baze, Symphony Sid took the lead shortly after the start. He set fractions of 23.11 and 46.12 seconds. Owned by a partnership and trained by Mike Mitchell, Symphony Sid has won 5 of 22 starts and $191,240. He was claimed for $50,000 by his current connections at Del Mar in July.

Artiste Royal, who has placed in five graded stakes this year, was second throughout. He finished 1 3-4 lengths in front of Runaway Dancer in the field of seven.
