Sycamore winner Lambeth unlikely to go in Breeders' Cup Turf

Marcus Hersh|Oct 16, 2026

Coady Media Prior to his Sycamore score, Lambeth ran a solid second in the Bowling Green Gold Cup at Kentucky Downs.

While the Breeders’ Cup lists Lambeth as a possible runner in the Breeders’ Cup Turf, “possible” might be stretching things.

Lambeth already has put together a very productive late summer and early autumn, finishing second Sept. 9 racing 2 1/16 miles in the $701,000 Bowling Green Gold Cup at Kentucky Downs, and winning the Grade 2, $400,000 Sycamore over 1 1/2 miles on the Keeneland grass course.

The Breeders’ Cup Turf, of course, also is a 1 1/2-mile grass race, and while owner Carl Moore and trainer Joe Sharp have entertained BC Turf discussions, Sharp seems disinclined.

“It’s back in three weeks, and there’s the River City at Churchill coming up,” Sharp said. “The horse came out of the [Sycamore] great, but timing-wise I’d be reluctant to come back that quick.”
