Sycamore: Sharbayan pulls away

Sharbayan, ridden by Pat Day, ran his 2003 record to 4 for 4 when he pulled away to win the Grade 3, $138,200 Sycamore Stakes by 1 3/4 lengths over late-running Cetewayo. The winner paid $7.80 after finishing 1 1/2 miles in 2:29.55.

Owned by Iron County Farms and trained by Wally Dollase, Sharbayan won a graded stakes for the first time in seven races since being imported from France. Always in striking position in a field of 10, Sharbayan took over for Better Talk Now at the top of the stretch.
