Swiss Current wins CTBA Marian

POMONA, Calif. - The 2007 Los Angeles County Fair race meet has been good for the stallion Swiss Yodeler and trainer Doug O'Neill. A decisive victory by Swiss Current ($6.20) in the $63,700 CTBA Marian Stakes on Monday at Fairplex Park was the seventh at the meet for offspring of Swiss Yodeler, and seventh for O'Neill, both meet highs. Aaron Gryder rode Swiss Current to the 2 1/4-length victory over the 7-5 favorite, D Pirates Marker, in the 1 1/16-mile race for California-bred 3-year-old fillies. Lt. Lorraine finished third.

* Martin Pedroza broke open the race for leading jockey by riding four winners Monday, while his closest pursuer, Tyler Baze, blanked. Going into Wednesday, Pedroza led Baze 25-20. Pedroza has led Fairplex the last eight years. The 16-day meet ends Monday.
