Swingit keys huge super in Furl Sail

Cozy Time ($40.60) rallied to upset Friday's Lookout at Delta Downs.P

A string of longshots, headed by 15-1 winner Swingit, triggered a $2 superfecta payoff of $78,377 at the conclusion of the $60,000 Furl Sail Handicap at Fair Grounds on Saturday.

Rating near the back early in the field of 14 fillies and mares, Swingit advanced between horses around the far turn, split rivals at the top of the stretch, and drew off in the middle of the course to win by just more than a length. My Three Sisters, an 8-1 chance, was up for a second by a nose over Shytoe Lafeet. Prop Me Up won a photo for fourth over Candy Ball.

The Furl Sail was the third stakes win for Swingit, who was making her first start since finishing eighth in the Virginia Oaks on July 21. Swingit had previously won the Jessamine Stakes at Keeneland at 2, and the Edgewood Stakes at Churchill last May, both grass stakes.

Ridden by James Graham for trainer Hal Wiggins, Swingit paid $32.80 and covered about 1 1/16 miles over firm turf in 1:45.27. Swingit has now won 5 of 11 starts with earnings of more than $270,000.
