HOT SPRINGS, Ark. - Swing and Sway won her second stakes of the Oaklawn meet Saturday when she rallied from just off the pace for a half-length win over Thoughtless in the $150,000 Carousel.

It was another 1 3/4 lengths back to Vertical Oak in third.

The Carousel, a six-furlong race for fillies and mares, shared a card with the $100,000 Arkansas Breeders’ won by Glacken’s Ghost.

Swing and Sway ($8.80) broke well and raced along the rail, just off Vertical Oak, who set a pressured pace of 22.32 seconds for the opening quarter and 46.10 for the half-mile. Jockey David Cabrera angled Swing and Sway off the fence after the first quarter, continued tracking the leaders to the stretch, and moved to the fore in the lane. She went on to cover the distance on a sloppy, sealed track in 1:11.20.

Ron Moquett trains Swing and Sway for Westrock Stables. The Carousel win came two starts after the filly won the $125,000 American Beauty in January at Oaklawn. Swing and Sway has now won 5 of 15 starts, and the $90,000 first-place check she picked up in the Carousel pushed her earnings to $345,540. Swing and Sway is a 4-year-old by Maclean’s Music.

Glacken’s Ghost became a stakes winner when he darted home by 2 1/4 lengths over Chantmeupbaby in the Arkansas Breeders’ Stakes for 3-year-olds and up bred in Arkansas. It was another three-quarters of a length back to Racer in third.

Glacken’s Ghost ($6) found his way to the fence after breaking from the 10-hole in the 1 1/16-mile race, and stalked fractions of 23.20 seconds for the opening quarter, 47.65 for the half-mile and 1:13.27 for six furlongs. Jockey Alex Canchari moved Glacken’s Ghost off the fence from there, the horse overtook the leaders in the stretch and went on to cover the distance on a sealed, sloppy track in 1:47.05.

“Alex did a good job getting him over into the first turn,” winning trainer Mac Robertson said. “I thought he rode a really good race from the outside hole.”

Glacken’s Ghost is a son of Smoke Glacken who races for Greg Giles and Hugh Robertson.
