Sweater Weather finishes strong to win Eternal Search

ETOBICOKE, Ontario – Sweater Weather came on strongly to outfinish the New York invader Flipcup and win Saturday’s $125,000 Eternal Search Stakes for Ontario-sired 3-year-old fillies at Woodbine.
Sweater Weather, a 7-1 shot ridden by Patrick Husbands, bided her time at the back of the pack along the inside early, as Niigon’s Queen set fast fractions in the 1 1/16-mile route. Sweater Weather commenced a four-wide rally in unison with Flipcup on the far turn and then dug in gamely through the stretch to get home on top by a half-length in 1:44.22.
On Rainbow Bridge closed belatedly for third, while the favored Wild Catomine faded to fourth after a stalking trip.
Sweater Weather ($15.90) banked $75,000 for her first stakes victory for owner Frank DiGiulio Jr. and trainer Bob Tiller.
“I asked [Husbands] to try and get her to relax, wherever she is,” Tiller said. “We had a tough beat with her in the [June 7 Lady Angela Stakes]. She really should have won that race.”
