In a surprise to no one, Flora Fantasy wins and is claimed

Flora Fantasy extended her winning streak to five in a row to kick off her 2020 campaign with a rail-skimming 4 3/4-length triumph in Sunday’s ninth race. The 6-year-old daughter of Cowtown Cat has fashioned the streak for four different trainers while having proven a popular item at the claim box.

Flora Fantasy won her first two starts in 2020 for trainer Saffie Joseph Jr., who claimed her for $16,000 out of a third-place finish in her 2019 finale. She has since been claimed for the same price and promptly won right back for trainers Jose D’Angelo, Jorge Delgado, and most recently Marcial Navarro, who in turn lost her for $25,000 on Sunday to trainer Mike Maker. Flora Fantasy posted a 78 Beyer Speed Figure for her latest effort, the highest she’s achieved during the streak.
◗ Saturday’s mandatory-payout Rainbow 6 sequence proved a tough one to solve, returning a $58,267 for a 20-cent bet to 138 winning ticketholders. More than $7.7 million in new wagers (over 38 million tickets) was added to a carryover of in excess of $1.8 million going into the card. The Rainbow 6 had gone unsolved for 20 consecutive programs, since the previous mandatory payoff on May 9.
