Surgery for Sorcerer's Stone

Byron King|Nov 08, 2005

Sorcerer's Stone, sixth in last month's Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Belmont Park, was scheduled to undergo surgery Wednesday for removal of a bone chip in his left ankle, trainer Pat Byrne said.

"It's not a big deal," Byrne said. "It's a very simple procedure. It's just a little tiny fragment."

Dr. Robert Hunt is scheduled to perform the surgery on Sorcerer's Stone at the Hagyard Davidson McGee Clinic in Lexington, Ky. Byrne said the colt is expected to take 60 days off before he returns to training at Gulfstream Park.

Sorcerer's Stone, who won the Grade 3 Arlington-Washington Futurity before the Breeders' Cup, had been expected to race in the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club at Churchill Downs Nov. 26.
