Sarah's Dream goes for fifth straight; late pick five has $217K carryover

Barbara D. Livingston The streaking Sarah's Dream headlines Friday's feature at Gulfstream, which could be moved from the turf to Tapeta due to forecasted rain.

Sarah’s Dream will go for her fifth straight win Friday at Gulfstream Park in a starter allowance scheduled for 1 1/16 miles on turf. There is a 70 percent chance of rain Friday, and a potential switch to the Tapeta track certainly wouldn’t hurt Sarah’s Dream.

Of interest to bettors, the Friday late pick five has a carryover of $217,084.

Sarah’s Dream, trained by Jose D’Angelo, is 3 for 3 over the Tapeta surface during her current four-race win streak. Sarah’s Dream did win a first-level allowance on turf by a nose Sept. 29.

In order to win, Sarah’s Dream is likely going to have to run down Silver Moonlight, a 3-year-old daughter of Liam’s Map who has recorded two consecutive front-running wins on turf since Saffie Joseph Jr. added blinkers to her equipment.

D’Angelo also sends out Escape Room, who has won her last two, one on Tapeta and one on turf.

The only other front-running type in the field appears to be Skinny Cosmo, who, on Nov. 29 won a $35,000 claiming race by 3 3/4 lengths at odds of 52-1 for trainer Heather Smullen.
