Super Saver, winner of the 2010 Kentucky Derby, was represented by his first winner as I Spent It took his career debut Wednesday at Belmont Park.

I Spent It, who is trained by Tony Dutrow for Alex and JoAnn Lieblong, tracked the pace through the early going of the five-furlong maiden special weight under Javier Castellano before getting up late to win by three-quarters of a length. The final time over a fast main track was :58.11.

Bred in Kentucky by Dixiana Farms, I Spent It is the first winner from two starters out of his dam, the winning Sky Mesa mare Rateeba. The colt, a $65,000 yearling, was purchased for $600,000 by the Lieblongs from Eddie Woods, agent, at the Fasig-Tipton Florida selected 2-year-olds in training sale. He was the sixth-highest-priced horse sold at the auction.

Rateeba is a half-sister to Japanese Group 1-placed Eishin Le Mars, Grade 2-placed Cocky, and to Pert Lady, dam of multiple graded stakes-winning sprinter Zavata.

Super Saver, a 7-year-old Maria's Mon horse, stands at WinStar Farm in Versailles, Ky., which bred and raced him. He hinted at an affinity for Churchill Downs when he won the Grade 2 Kentucky Jockey Club Stakes as a juvenile in 2009, then rewarded those who took note with a win in the Kentucky Derby the following spring. He retired later that season with $1,889,766 in earnings.

Out of the winning A.P. Indy mare Supercharger, Super Saver is a half-brother to Grade 3 winner Brethren, stakes-placed Lisa T., and stakes producer Quickest.

Supercharger is a full sister to Grade 1 winner and young Darley stallion Girolamo; to Grade 2 winner Daydreaming, dam of Grade 1 winner Imagining; to Grade 3 winner and sire Accelerator; and to She's a Winner, whose three stakes winners include Grade 1 winner and successful New York sire Bluegrass Cat.

She is also a half-sister to stakes winner Harborage, Group 3-placed Fighting Brave, stakes producer New Dice, and Malka, dam of multiple graded-placed Got Lucky. It is the family of champion Rhythm and leading Mid-Atlantic stallion Not For Love.
