Super Saver and Daredevil were both acquired by the Turkish Jockey Club in late 2019, during a period when that outfit was bullish in the North American bloodstock market in an attempt to build its stallion ranks. Daredevil promptly sired an Eclipse Award winner the next season in Preakness Stakes winner Swiss Skydiver, along with Kentucky Oaks winner Shedaresthedevil. His former WinStar Farm stablemare Super Saver has followed suit, with a good deal of success following his departure. Super Saver is represented in North America this season by older female divisional leader Letruska. A Group 1 winner and champion in Mexico in 2019, the mare has now won three straight graded stakes in the United States, winning the Grade 1 Apple Blossom at Oaklawn, the Grade 1 Ogden Phipps at Belmont, and, on Saturday, the Grade 2 Fleur de Lis at Churchill Downs. A few hours later, Double Thunder won the Grade 3 Bashford Manor Stakes, giving Super Saver a graded stakes double on the Saturday program at Churchill. Super Saver, winner of the 2010 Kentucky Derby, will look to keep his momentum rolling with his unbeaten son Happy Saver expected to start in the Grade 2 Suburban on Saturday at Belmont. The colt won the Jockey Club Gold Cup last fall, giving his sire another Grade 1 winner following his departure. Daredevil’s post-departure success led to him being repatriated; he now stands at Lane’s End Farm as the property of the Turkish Jockey Club. There is no official information at the moment regarding future prospects for Super Saver.
