Super One looks to repeat as Ingrid Knotts Stakes winner

Super One upset the $40,000 Ingrid Knotts at 38-1 last year at Arapahoe Park but figures to start as one of the top contenders Saturday, when she defends her title in the race. The six-furlong stakes is for fillies and mares bred in Colorado.

The field of 12 includes Twisted Regan, a winner of her last three outs making her first start since August; Fast Puff, a past winner of the Ingrid Knotts; Galactic Princess, a Turf Paradise stakes winner and a daughter of Western Hemisphere, a stakes-winning mare who earned $417,575; and Special Task, a full sister to past Ingrid Knotts winner Sorta Special.

Super One enters the Ingrid Knotts off a runner-up finish in an optional $15,000 claiming race against open company April 22 at Fonner Park. The Beyer Speed Figure of 56 that she earned is among the best last-race numbers in this field.

◗ Alfredo Triana Jr., who was aboard Super One for last year’s Ingrid Knotts, has the mount for trainer Juan Ortega.

◗ Super One is out of the mare Super Bonus, who won 11 races.

◗ She closed out her strong Arapahoe meet with a win in the $43,000 Spicy, a 1 1/16-mile race Aug. 13. Two of the rivals she defeated returned in their next outs to win conditioned allowance races at Fonner.

◗ Twisted Regan has won off a layoff of similar length before, taking a maiden special weight last May in her first start of the year at Arapahoe.

◗ Twisted Regan, who has won at both sprint and route distances, will be ridden by Mike Ziegler.
