There is an early autumn comeback scheduled for Super Corredora, the champion 2-year-old filly of 2025.
Trainer John Sadler said on Friday that Super Corredora is expected to race for the first time since early March in the Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita on Sept. 27.
The $200,000 Zenyatta Stakes at 1 1/16 miles is the leading race for fillies and mares on dirt at the Santa Anita autumn meeting. The winner receives a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff at Keeneland on Oct. 31.
Super Corredora won the BC Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar last October, clinching her championship, but was beaten in two starts in stakes for 3-year-old fillies at Santa Anita in February and March.
Super Corredora finished last of four in the $98,000 Las Virgenes Stakes at a mile, and sixth of seven in the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes at 1 1/16 miles after a disrupted start.
“I draw a line through the last race,” Sadler said. “She’s never run behind the whole field. It was time to give her a rest after that race.”

Later in March, co-owner Terry Finley of West Point Thoroughbreds said that Super Corredora had developed a temperature. She was given a rest at a Kentucky farm before returning to California.
On Friday at Del Mar, Super Corredora worked five furlongs in 1:00.60.
“I think the Zenyatta is where I’m headed,” Sadler said. “She’s coming back better. Her energy is better.”
Sadler said Super Corredora did not have sufficient preparation for a start in the Grade 3 Torrey Pines Stakes for 3-year-old fillies at a mile at Del Mar on Aug. 30.
“I felt I would have been pressing to make the Torrey Pines,” he said. “She will be very well prepared” for the Zenyatta.
Super Corredora has won 2 of 6 starts and earned $1,100,100. She races for the partnership of Spartan Equine Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds, Robert Gardiner, and Michael Olszewski.
