Super Corredora gains Breeders' Cup Distaff berth with Zenyatta triumph

ARCADIA, Calif. - Autumn seems to be the best time of year for Super Corredora, who won her first start in more than six months in Sunday’s Grade 2 Zenyatta Stakes for fillies and mares at Santa Anita.

Last October, Super Corredora won two races for 2-year-old fillies – against maidens at a mile at Santa Anita, and her stakes debut in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies at Del Mar.

Super Corredora was the champion 2-year-old filly of 2025.

On Sunday, Super Corredora led throughout the $201,000 Zenyatta Stakes, never threatened by six rivals in her first start against older fillies and mares. The win gave Super Corredora a fees-paid berth to the BC Distaff at Keeneland on Oct. 31.

Trainer John Sadler said after the Zenyatta Stakes that Super Corredora’s status for the BC Distaff will be assessed in coming weeks.

Ridden for the first time on Sunday by Joel Rosario, Super Corredora was ignored in the betting, returning $17.60 as the fifth choice.

Super Corredora drew away in the stretch to win by 2 ¾ lengths over Majestic Oops racing on a track that played kind through the day to pacesetter or horses racing near the front.

Super Corredora ran 1 1/16 miles in 1:42.93.

“She did great,” Rosario said. “It was like she was playing around.”

Super Corredora set an early pace of 23.12 seconds for the opening quarter-mile and 46.44 for a half-mile.

“She dug in and kept moving forward,” Rosario said.

Majestic Oops, the 7-2 fourth choice, closed from sixth of seven and finished three-quarters of a length in front of 5-2 Rabeeba. Majestic Oops, a four-time stakes winner, was the only closer in the field to make up significant ground.

“I think she ran her race,” trainer Phil D’Amato said.

“The winner had an easy lead. On paper, there were four speed horses. We didn’t have the pace pressure we expected.”

Magnificat finished fourth, followed by She’s No Quant, Om N Joy and Howin.

Super Corredora won for the first time on Sunday since the BC Juvenile Fillies. Earlier this year, in races for 3-year-old fillies, Super Corredora finished last of four in the Las Virgenes Stakes at a mile in February, and sixth of seven in the Grade 3 Santa Ysabel Stakes at 1 1/16 miles in March.

Super Corredora was rested at a farm in Kentucky earlier this year and returned to trainer Sadler’s stable in early summer.
