Sunland: Whisper's Sister, Quinton's Doll Who meet again in La Senora

Mary Rampellini|Jan 12, 2012

Quinton’s Doll Who, a front-runner, and Whisper’s Sister, a closer, will get a rematch Saturday in the $110,000 La Senora at Sunland Park.

The 3-year-old fillies met last month in the Enchantress at Sunland, with Whisper’s Sister running down Quinton’s Doll Who in the late stages for a half-length win. That race was at a mile, and on Saturday both fillies will be turning back to six furlongs for the La Senora, which is for 3-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico.

Due to the distance move, Quinton’s Doll Who could find herself tracking Garretshostlygirl, who set the pace last out in a five-furlong allowance at Zia, and Moonface, a front-runner who has also been sprinting. A solid pace would benefit Whisper’s Sister, who won her maiden sprinting back in October.

Ry Eikleberry has the mount on Quinton’s Doll Who for trainer Joel Marr, while Kelsi Purcell will ride Whisper’s Sister for trainer Paul Smith.
Hot for You is cutting back to the distance of her best races. She ran second in the $152,000 New Mexico Cup Classic Juvenile Fillies at six furlongs on Oct. 30, then won a maiden special weight at the same trip one start later, on Nov. 22. Both races came at Zia Park. Martin Bourdieu has the mount for R.D. Hubbard and trainer Hermengildo Aldavaz.
