Sunland: That's Who heads Marr-trained trio in Dominguez Memorial

That’s Who will attempt to start a new win streak on Sunday, when he leads a charge of three Joel Marr-trained stakes winners in the $85,000 Albert Dominguez Memorial Handicap at Sunland Park.
On Down the Road and Attitude E Racer, who will start as separate interests in the nine-horse field, ran 1-2 in last year’s Dominguez. The 1 1/16-mile race for 3-year-olds and up bred in New Mexico is on the same card as the Grade 1, $350,000 Championship for Quarter Horses.
That’s Who had a six-race win streak snapped in his last start, when he missed by a head in the $190,000 New Mexico Cup Classic at Zia Park on Oct. 27. He set the pace and fought on when challenged in a valiant attempt to keep his win streak alive. That’s Who had not been beaten since March.
“He got nosed out in the race at Zia,” Marr said. “He ran his race. He wasn’t giving up. He just got beat.”
That’s Who is the 122-pound highweight on Sunday. Mr. Wizard, who defeated That’s Who in the New Mexico Cup, and On Down the Road, who was third, will both start at 121 pounds. That’s Who, a runner effective from both on and off the pace, will break from post 5 under regular rider Alfredo Juarez Jr.
On Down the Road rallied for third in the New Mexico Cup in his first start since July. He was beaten 3 3/4 lengths by Mr. Wizard.
“He ran well. He just couldn’t catch him,” Marr said. “He just couldn’t get there.”
Carlos Madeira has the mount and will bread from post 3.
Attitude E Racer won the $182,000 New Mexico Cup Sprint at Zia on Oct. 27.
“We’re stretching him back out,” said Marr, who has given the mount to Ken Tohill.
Attitude E Racer was a two-turn stakes winner at Sunland in March.
Mr. Wizard will return to racing around two turns after finishing eighth in the $85,000 Johnie L. Jamison at Sunland on Dec. 8.
◗ Cold Cash 123, who was the World Champion Quarter Horse of 2011, will be racing over a distance a little less than optimum for him when he starts in the 400-yard Championship. The field of 10 includes Prospect to the Top, the champion aged stallion of 2012.
Cold Cash 123 has done his best work at 440 yards, but he is a Grade 1 winner at Sunday’s shorter distance and comes into the race is good form. Cold Cash 123 was second by a neck in the Grade 1 Challenge Championship at Los Alamitos on Nov. 9. G.R. Carter Jr. has the mount for trainer Sleepy Gilbreath.
