The one-mile race was restricted to 2-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico. \nKing s Water Lilly ($2.60) came into the Enchantress off a runner-up finish to her division s best horse, Glory Be Mine, in the $149,000 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Fillies. And with that rival sitting out Sunday s race, King s Water Lilly was a short-priced favorite. She raced four wide around the first turn and down the backside in the Enchantress, with Avenue of Tears leading the field through an opening quarter in 24.31 seconds and a half-mile in 48.24. \nKing s Water Lilly moved up approaching the final turn, went after the leader and proceeded to pull clear in the stretch, covering the distance on a fast track in 1:40.41.
