Sunland Park: That's the Idea gets rematch with Lady Genius in Enchantress Stakes
That’s the Idea, who suffered her first defeat last month when taking on colts, will return to racing with fillies Sunday in the $85,000 Enchantress at Sunland Park. The one-mile stakes is restricted to 2-year-old fillies bred in New Mexico and drew a field of 10.
That’s the Idea was the 2-5 favorite in the $138,000 Eddy County at Zia Park in her last start Nov. 27. The race against males was her first start at two turns. Leading up to it, That’s the Idea had won all three of her starts by a combined 25 lengths, including the $152,000 New Mexico Cup Juvenile Fillies at Zia with a Beyer Speed Figure of 91.
But in the Eddy County, That’s the Idea fell to her nose at the start and found herself racing behind rivals for the first time in her career. She recovered quickly, moving to the lead only to be overtaken by another filly, Lady Genius. That’s the Idea held second, 4 1/4 lengths behind the victorious Lady Genius, who also returns in the Enchantress.
That’s the Idea will break from post 6 under jockey Ry Eikleberry. Henry Dominguez trains the filly for her breeders, Kirk and Judy Robison.
Lady Genius won the third stakes of her young career in the Eddy County. She came into the race off a pair of runner-up finishes to That’s the Idea in the New Mexico Cup and the $193,000 Rio Grande Senorita Futurity at Ruidoso Downs. Carlos Madeira has the mount for trainer Dallas Barton.
