Sunland Park: Rebranded, Proceed lead 10 fillies in Mine That Bird Derby

The $120,000 Mine That Bird Derby at Sunland Park on Saturday is the local stepping-stone to next month’s Grade 3, $800,000 Sunland Derby. A field of 10 is set for the Mine That Bird, which will be run over 1 1/16 miles.
Rebranded, winner of the Riley Allison Futurity, should go favored from the rail, with Proceed, who is undefeated in two starts, the possible second choice for what will be his first start since December.
Ry Eikleberry has the mount on Rebranded, a son of Tiznow purchased privately by Tony Pennington. Justin Evans trains the horse, who is one of two starters he will have in the field Saturday. Alsono, also owned by Pennington, won the $50,000 KHEY Sprint at Sunland in his most recent start Jan. 26.
The Mine That Bird Derby is named for the Kentucky Derby winner who will lead the post parade Saturday.
