Sunday TimeformUS Highlight Horse: Tizzy in the Sky can rebound in Top Flight

This Top Flight boils down to two main players. Comparative (#1) is likely to attract support off her series of three victories upon returning from a layoff last fall. Two of those wins were earned over this course, and she arguably ran her best race going this distance in the Ladies back in January. She subsequently went to Oaklawn where she initially had success, causing a minor upset in the Grade 3 Bayakoa. Yet she disappointed most recently in the Grade 2 Azeri, forcing her connections to now drop her back into a softer spot rather than move on to a race like the Grade 1 Apple Blossom. She’s clearly capable on her best day, but she was disappointing last time, failing to hold her position into the far turn while offering no late punch. She can rebound here with a more aggressive ride, but her main rival might be a little quicker in the early stages.

Tizzy in the Sky (#3) is the other key contender, who also needs to rebound from a poor recent result. She had been in great form here last fall, winning an allowance event going this distance by nearly 10 lengths with a 114 TimeformUS Speed Figure. She subsequently lost the Turnback the Alarm going this same trip, but ran well in defeat, earning a career-best 118 TiemformUS Speed Figure. That number is some 10 points higher than anything Comparative has eared. Since then she’s lost twice more, but she actually ran well to be second in the Go For Wand considering that she was chasing wide against a rail bias. Her last effort at Gulfstream looks poor at first glance, but she never had a fair chance after getting outrun in that short dash to the clubhouse turn. She actually did well to get up for fourth after making a 5-wide run, which is a tough trip to pull going 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream. She’s now back at her best distance, and she should play out as the main speed under Kendrick Carmouche. I view her as the most likely winner and a proper single early in this card.
