Sunday Rules targets Madison at Keeneland

Sunday Rules, the California-bred speedball who knocked off males Jan. 30 in the California Cup Sprint, will seek her first graded stakes win at Keeneland. Trainer Phil D’Amato said Sunday Rules, a daughter of Tribal Rule, will target the Grade 1, seven-furlong Madison Stakes on April 9.
D’Amato plans to ship a small string to Keeneland this spring. The participants are to be determined.
“I’m going to wait until mid-March to figure it all out,” he said. “I’ve got a bunch of 3-year-old fillies, so I want to see how they sort themselves out. Sunday Rules is targeted for the Madison.”
Sunday Rules, a 4-year-old filly, has won 8 of 9 starts and earned the fastest Beyer Speed Figure, a 97, of the Santa Anita meet by a filly or mare in winning the Cal Cup Sprint by 2 1/4 lengths. Owned and bred by Nick Alexander, Sunday Rules has earned $534,840.
