Suffolk: Jackie Davis not badly injured in spill

Rowland Hoyt|Sep 01, 2012

Jockey Jackie Davis fell when her mount Gato Bait clipped heels in the fifth race at Suffolk Downs Saturday, but was expected to return to action Monday after getting checked out at an area hospital.

According to agent Max Hall, Davis had no broken bones and was expecting to be released Saturday afternoon from Massachusetts General Hospital.

"She's fine but they just want to keep an eye on her right now," said Hall. "She's mostly just shaken up. She looks fine. She's acting fine. If anything, she's a little tense and needs to relax a bit. She should be up and around shortly and I don't think we will miss a day."

Davis started the day third in the Suffolk jockey standings with 32 wins. Live racing resumes Monday.

Gato Bait walked back to trainer Judy Beaumont's barn for evaluation. Caties Gift and jockey Lucie Herkova were disqualified from their third-place finish for causing the incident.
