Stylish Jess Br grabs third Grade 1 victory

Stylish Jess Br won the third Grade 1 race of her career in Saturday's $100,000 Charger Bar Handicap at Los Alamitos, her first start since being disqualified from second to seventh in the $750,000 Champion of Champions last month.

Ridden by Cesar DeAlba, Stylish Jess Br ($3) ran 400 yards in 19.56 seconds, easily beating the 17-1 Bills Glamour by 1 1/4 lengths. Stylish Jess Br was a head behind Bills Glamour in the first 100 yards and took advantage midway through the race.

Short Czech, a 37-1 outsider, ran third in the field of nine fillies and mares, finishing 2 1/4 lengths behind Stylish Jess Br

Stylish Jess Br, 5, has won 9 of 22 starts and $690,384 for owner Benny Rosset and trainer Paul Jones. Stylish Jess Br's previous Grade 1 wins came in the 2008 Mildred Vessels Handicap and the Distaff Challenge last October.

In the Champion of Champions, Stylish Jess Br finished a half-length behind Freaky, but was disqualified for causing interference near the finish.
