Stud plans for Vindication

Glenye Cain Oakford|Dec 12, 2002

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Breeders' Cup Juvenile winner Vindication will stand at John Sikura's Hill 'n' Dale Farm near Lexington at the conclusion of his racing career, according to a Thursday announcement by the colt's owner, Satish and Anne Sanan's Padua Stables. The likely 2-year-old champion, Vindication is being pointed for the Kentucky Derby.

Padua sold an undisclosed number of future breeding rights to Vindication, by Seattle Slew and out of the Strawberry Road mare Strawberry Reason. But Nadia Sanan, Padua's general manager, said Padua still retains a majority interest in the colt's stud career.

"We plan on always owning breeding rights in Vindication and breeding our own mares to him," Sanan said.
