Stuck in Traffic stalks and pounces

Stuck in Traffic ($11.50) closed from just off the pace en route to a handy victory in Saturday's $126,600 New Providence Stakes at Woodbine.

Stuck in Traffic, normally a front-runner, assumed a stalking position on the outside, as favored Drunken Love set wind-aided fractions of 21.87 seconds and 44.57 in the six-furlong dash.

Stuck in Traffic made the lead at the eighth pole before drawing clear for a 2 1/4-length triumph, in a time of 1:09.57. Legal Move rallied to beat out his stablemate, Yummy With Butter, for second, and Drunken Love faded to fourth in the nine-horse field of Ontario-sired runners.

"He relaxed today," said Eurico Rosa da Silva, who was riding Stuck in Traffic for the first time. "He ran very focused. When I asked him, he gave everything he had, and ran a beautiful race."

Stuck in Traffic banked $75,000 for M.A.D. Racing Stable and Martha Gonzalez, the wife of trainer Nick Gonzalez.
