Stroud’s Lane Farm in Florida to stand Seek Again, Admiral Kitten, Daddy Long Legs

DRF Breeding Staff|Jan 11, 2016

Stroud’s Lane Farm has launched a commercial stallion operation at the former Mariblue Farm in Reddick, Fla., and will stand a trio of debuting stallions for the 2016 breeding season.

Seek Again, a Grade 1-winning son of Speightstown, will stand for an advertised fee of $8,500. The 6-year-old retired with five wins in 18 career starts for earnings of $942,926, highlighted by wins in Grade 1 Hollywood Derby and the Grade 2 Fourstardave Handicap.

Homebred in Kentucky by Juddmonte Farms, Seek Again is out of the Grade 1-winning Danehill mare Light Jig, whose four winners from five foals to race also include Group 3 winner Treble Jig. His extended family includes Group 2 winner Nashmeel and Group 3 winner Able Deputy.

Admiral Kitten, a 6-year-old son of Kitten’s Joy, will stand for $5,000. Racing as a homebred for Ken and Sarah Ramsey, Admiral Kitten won four of 16 starts, including the Grade 1 Secretariat Stakes and the Grade 3 John Connally Turf Cup, for earnings of $792,394.

Admiral Kitten is out of the winning Grand Slam mare Reachinforthestars, whose two foals to race were both winners. He is from the family of champion Cozzene, Grade 2 winners Funistrada, Movin’ Money, Krisada, and Spring Venture, and Grade 3 winners Rahystrada and Lone Star Sky.

Daddy Long Legs, a 7-year-old Scat Daddy horse, will stand for $5,000 after finishing his career with three wins in 16 starts for $1,348,231. His biggest victories came in the Group 2 Royal Lodge Stakes and the U.A.E. Derby.

Bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, Daddy Long Legs is out of the stakes-winning Meadowlake mare Dreamy Maiden, whose seven winners from nine runners include the stakes winner Tres Dream.

“This venture is all about offering the best quality to Florida breeders and trying to change the mindset so that people can keep their mares in Florida and feel confident about breeding to high-end stallions,” said Ryan Barbazon, general manager of Stroud’s Lane Farm.

The farm will host an open house Saturday, Jan. 23, from noon to 4 p.m. Eastern. A drawing for a complimentary breeding season for all three stallions will be held, along with other prizes for those in attendance.
